Phénix at The Puli Hotel & Spa      Shanghai - Best Brunch

Sophisticated simplicity. Can I say that? I think I can. I have to say this is my favourite  brunch place and I have traveled a lot these past few months and eaten at a few 'buffets' so I think I am well qualified to comment. Phenix Sunday Brunch is absolute class. For a free flow Champagne lunch with Moet Chandon, we were looking at 800 kuai - about US$115.

So why do I think it is so good? They work on the less is more principle which I love. Offer less but do it very well - unlike lots of other brunch options where more is the norm. So it suits me. Quality products, very simply presented mostly, and all the variety you need for one meal. Plus they have a menu where you still can choose additional items a-la-carte all included in the price. It's not a brunch experience that would appeal to smaller children though but there are many brunch options available elsewhere more suitable for children.
Four visits for me over 18 months I think and the standard was consistent and I've been away from Shanghai for about 9 months now but you can guess where I'll be going on my first Sunday when I return to that amazing city new camera in hand looking for fresh photos and food. If you are going to Shanghai and want a really smart brunch experience to just add the wow factor to your visit, then please consider this lovely experience. Then you might come back and enjoy this Michelin 1 star restaurant's night time a-la-carte menu.
