Two  Copenhagen Restaurants

Restaurant Cofoco

There were a couple of meals on the way worth mentioning. We stayed at a nice hotel not far from the train station and along the street was the fantastic little local but smart Restaurant Cofoco that only had the outside seats on the footpath available when we arrived. The set menu was yummy and we enjoyed the experience very much. I think the set menu was 295 Kroner for the 4 course Tuna Tartar, Mussel Soup, Pork Neck, and Kaffir Lime Yoghurt Ice cream. yum yum yum.

Marv & Ben

The second restaurant we went to was Marv & Ben and was one we actually researched looking for a short degustation type dinner with good quality and value too. The four or five course set menus can be a great way to try some lovely food. It was not out first choice as Noma was full (as expected when you ring last minute) but it was a fantastic second choice and I like the less formal places i have to say. You can still have smart and good quality without being overly formal these days and traveling means I like a lighter wardrobe.

I liked M&B's as soon as our Uber pulled up outside the smallish restaurant road front on a fairly quiet side road where a waiter opened my door to let me out with a cheery welcome. Well that just started the night off on the right note. After we were greeted and seated with a drink, we chose a four course menu - Halibut, tomatoes and pickled pine, New Danish potatoes, lovage & smoked mackerel, Grilled lamb, romaine lettuce & smoked marrow, Roasted hazelnuts & lemon herbs. Well straight off I'm going to say the Danish potato dish was my standout dish. Yes I avoid foam dishes on menus like the plague, but this creamy foamy topping hid a wonderful crispy crunchy potato dish underneath. Loved it.

We enjoyed the attentive excellent service, the ambience was good. The restaurant is a few steps below the road level and not so large that I could see with plenty of space between tables. I would go back next visit to Copenhagen and we were again stunned at the value we found in Copenhagen for such quality delivered on a plate. 400 Kroner(42 Euro/47USD) menu I believe this was plus wine plus dessert. Great value! Maybe we are paying over what we should where we live. Please go if you are visiting this wonderful city. - and please let me know if you find your own food gems too.
